At Agni Dreams, we believe in igniting dreams and nurturing possibilities. Recently, we had the honour of witnessing the spark of a new beginning — one that came to life through compassion, determination, and a shared sense of humanity.

A courageous 14-year-old girl, who lost both her legs as a baby, has taken a bold and inspiring step forward in her journey toward independence and hope. Thanks to the collective effort of many generous hearts, she has been fitted with new prosthetic legs and supported through a transformative rehabilitation process.

This remarkable journey began when her teacher, Mrs. Lasanthini Priya of St. Mary’s College, Bogawantalawa, reached out for help. Moved by her story, Mr. Aathmajan Vivekanadan from Finland took the initiative to raise support for this cause. Alongside Mrs. Aathmajan, Mr. and Mrs. Vivekanadan, and Ms. Dhushintha Ramalingam, they worked tirelessly to coordinate logistics and healthcare needs, ensuring every detail was carefully managed.

A special acknowledgment goes to Mr. Mohan Rajendram and everyone at the Centre for Handicapped, Kundasale. Their generosity extended far beyond providing prosthetic limbs at a discounted rate. They offered invaluable in-house rehabilitation and training, enabling the young girl to walk confidently for the first time in years — climbing stairs, moving independently, and embracing newfound freedom. The emotional and joyful transformation was deeply felt by all involved.

As Mr. Aathmajan shared in his heartfelt gratitude, the support did not stop at rehabilitation. Efforts are underway to enhance accessibility in her home, including necessary renovations, and advocacy continues to improve accessibility at her school, so she can move without barriers.

Even small acts of kindness, like the personal gift from a staff member at the centre, made a profound impact on her spirit, reminding us all how meaningful such gestures can be.

This milestone marks Agni Dreams’ very first successful ignition of a new dream — a dream powered by empathy, collective dedication, and the unwavering belief that together, we can create lasting change.
